Comparing Two Types of Blogs: Similarities and Differences between Creators and Crictics Blogs!

For your information, there are actually 4 main types of blogs, which are Creators, Conversationalists, Critics and Collectors. By understanding the types of the blogs, it will lead you to understanding the style and direction that you want your content to be created.

Therefore, I will be introducing the two main types of the blog, by making comparison between the Creators Blog and Critics Blog. The blog today will be focusing on the similarities and differences between two types of blogs to let you gain better understanding of both types of blogs.

In today's comparison, there will be two respresentatives chosen as examples for the two types of the blogs.

First, the YouTube channel " The Game Theorists" will representing the Creators Blogs in today's comparison. Creators Blogs means blogs which made their own original contents. The Youtube Creator Matpat always do analysis and make theories on multiple games by using real life logic which also makes an educational content for the audience. Therefore, his channel is definitely suitable as the example for the Creators Blogs.

Next, the representative for the Critics Blogs is the YouTube Channel "BBK Network". The main host, Lucas always discusses and shows his personal critics on the current affairs in Malaysia. Therefore, it suits with the characteristics of the Critics Blogs, which offer criticism and responses to a particular subject.

1. Provide information and facts

In actuality, both the Creator and Criric blogs provide information to the audiences or readers. Both the types of blogs will include facts that can be learned or absorbed by the audiences.

In " The Game Theorists" 's videos, the main host MatPat always introduces real life knowledges and information to its audiences when it discusses topics on different games. For example in the episode <Game Theory: Why Flying Pokemon CAN'T FLY!> , MatPat uses real life physics to discuss why flying Pokemon in the Pokemon Game Series cannot actually fly in real life. The audiences get to learn knowledges related to physics in a seemingly fun topic of games.

Besides, the channel "BBK Network", which act as an example of Critics Blog also introduces news and information of Malaysia to the audience. As an example in "BBK Network", the main host introduces the differences between SST and GST in Malaysia. The audiences can learn the knowledges of both the important taxes imposed in Malaysia.

2. Contain Personal Opinions and Analysis

The both types of blogs does not only introduce the obvious fact and information to the readers or audiences, but also contain the creator's personal opinions and analysis.

For example of the Creators Blogs, "The Game Theorists" channel will provide their analysis and opinions on some of the information or messages of the gaming community. As an example, the recent episode <STOP the FNAF ARG Hunt> demostrate MatPat's personal opinion on how the ARG (Alternate Reality Game) should set their guildeline to prevent causing disturbance to those not involved in it.

He also provides some suggestions for them to improve.

Differences

1. Critics Blog Focus on Critcism while Creator Blogs Does Not

However, both types of blogs still have their differences that differentiate themselves from one another. As for the content perspective, the Critics Blog focus mainly on criticising a certain subject while the Creator Blogs does not have such limitation as long as there are original contents.

In "The Game Theorists", although there are presences of contents which criticise the gaming community, but there are actually a wide variety of original content in the channed related to video games. However, the "BBK Network" 's content mainly focus on crticising phenomena or news happening in Malaysia and internationally.

2. Creator Blogs Focus on Original Content while Critics Blog Includes Expert's Analysis

Although we conclude that both Creator Blog and Critic Blog includes personal opinions, however the content of Creator Blogs focus mainly on their own original content. In contrast, Critics Blog also includes opinion from the experts and not just their own opinions or analysis.

To compare, "The Game Theorists" as the representative of Creator Blog, rarely invites guests or experts in their content. They focus mainly on their own reseacrch and opinions on the topic.

On the other hand, "BBK Network" often invites experts like the Former Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke or other experts to talk on related issues. They does not rely solely on their own analysis or original opinion on the issue or topic.

In conclusion, both the Creators Blogs and Critics Blog have their own similar and unique characteristics which will attract their own community. The examples used today, "The Game Theorists" and "BBK Network" both are very successful in buliding up their own community and contents. Therefore, it is important for us to understand the types of blogs we want to build and create our own amazing contents!
